Ouray Gourmet Vintage Baking Mixes are based on the classic recipes of the early pioneers and miners of the American West. Each mix is prepared by hand the same way it was readied for baking a hundred or more years ago -- simple, natural ingredients without preservatives or additives. Inspired by the hardy early settlers in and around Ouray, Colorado in the 1870s and 1880s, each mix yields a treasured memory of the pioneer kitchens of long ago.

The 'receipts' for our mixes were researched in the worn pages of pioneer cookbooks, museum archives, regional history books as well as lively interviews with pioneer descendants.

Ouray Gourmet features such old-time favorites as aromatic gingerbread and buttery scones -- buckwheat pancakes and golden pound cake -- hearty skillet corn bread and old-fashioned biscuits -- plus a delicious chocolate crazy cake and simple country cobbler.
